Narrative

Described by Otto Reiss as a "very handsome tall man with fare hair and blue eyes that he passed on to many descendents."
"The grandfather having married our grandmother and a very good dowry at that started his married life in company and partnership with his brother in law as tenant of a very large farm and spirit distillery in the Moravian village of Papuvka, which was part of a huge estate owned by the family of the Dukes of Lichtenstein, the ancestors of the present Sovereign Duke of Lichtenstein. After several years of successful farming bad luck struck the partners. In one year they lost all cattle owing to a pest. This was followed during two consecutive years by a disastrous drought and complete failure of crops. They had to give up the tenancy and with the capital grandfather saved from the disaster he bought a smallholding and pub in the village of HROZNOVA LHOTA very near STRAZNICE."
"The grandparents had 9 children of whom 8 survived and one daughter named IDA died in childhood. There were 4 sons and 4 daughters who, with the exception of uncle Siegfried (who drank himself to death), all reached a ripe age. "
