        Leonard Albert Tepper, 81, of Asheville, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at John F. Keever Solace Center, Asheville.

        Mr. Tepper was born Oct. 12, 1924 in Newark, N.J., the son of the late Lillian (Schoenbrun) and Jules Tepper. He moved to North Carolina from Hackensack, N.J. in 1986. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He graduated in 1947 from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and attended Columbia Law School. He retired from Mass Mutual Life Insurance Co. as a financial planner with over 30 yrs. of service.

        He enjoyed community theater and was a member of Studio Players of Montclair, N.J. In his later years he also enjoyed writing poetry and gardening and was an active volunteer with Meals on Wheels of Buncombe Co. and Pathways-Life After Cancer in Asheville.

        He is survived by his wife, Peggy Franc of the home; sons, James Tepper of Boonton Twp, N.J., David Tepper of Livingston, N.J., Daniel Tepper of Easton, Md., and Jonathan Tepper of Plainfield, N.J.; sisters Shirlee Sarasohn of West Orange, N.J., and Rita Horowitz of Millburn, N.J.; and 5 grandchildren.

        A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Jewish Community Center, 236 Charlotte St., Asheville.

        In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Pathways-Life After Cancer, 121 Sherwood Road, Asheville 28803

        Shirlee (Tepper) Sarasohn, 90, of West Orange, N.J., died on Sept. 16, 2011. Services will be held at the Bernhim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, N.J., on Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at 10 a.m. Shirlee was a loyal graduate of Douglass College who worked in the travel industry for many years. She will be remembered as a devoted and determined sister, mother and grandmother who loved life and cherished her family and friends. Mrs. Sarasohn was the daughter of the late Jules and Lillian Tepper and sister of the late Leonard Tepper. Shirlee leaves behind her beloved sister, Rita Horowitz and her husband, Dr. Jerome Horowitz; daughters, Ellen Glazer and Wendy Sarasohn; granddaughters, Jamie Joseph, Elizabeth Levesque and Mollie Glazer, and great-grandson, Ryan Levesque. She was beloved also by her nieces, Joanne Horowitz and Beth Giladi; sister-in-law, Peggy Franc, and her cherished and most special friend, Marie Tarmy.
