berthold freund and his wife frieda fany freund (born rybner 16.9.1887
in mahrich ostrau) were deported from theresianstadt to auschwitz on
15.12.43. i found a few red-cross post cards sent by them from
theresianstadt.

From Helga Pollak-Kinsky, about round-up in 1942:
All the adults had to line up in the yard, most of them already in their
pajamas. The Germans searched the whole house. Because Frieda Freund, my
father’s aunt, wasn’t able to move as quickly as the SS men ordered, they beat
her with a fence post and injured her badly. Later we learned that far more
terrible things had happened in the Czech villages of Ležaky and Lidice.
