Ann Bernstein Engle, 83, of Coconut Creek, Fla., and formerly of Yonkers, N.Y., lost an eighteen-year battle with ovarian cancer on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, N.Y.

Born in Stanford, Conn., on June 18, 1923, to Fannie and Israel Bernstein, she later resided in the Bronx, N.Y., and Yonkers, N.Y., before moving to Coconut Creek, Florida.

Ann was retired from the Westchester County Department of Social Services.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She cared deeply for others and will be missed by many.

Ann was predeceased by her beloved husband Seymour Engle.

An active volunteer with Northwest Medical Center in Margate, Fla., she also served on the hospital scholarship committee and at SOS Children’s Services in Broward County, Fla.

Survivors include devoted sons, Edward of Goshen, and Howard of Armonk; daughters-in-law, Laura, Goshen, and Denise of Armonk; and the highlight of her life, her four grandchildren: Jessica, Rachael, Samantha, and Justin; one sister, Gertrude of Margate, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services were held on Thursday, May 24, 2007. Shiva will be observed at Edward’s Goshen home on the evenings of Monday, May 28, 2007, and Tuesday, May 29, 2007.
